Zoe AdkinsZoe Adkins (Anybodys/Ensemble) has recently joined the world of theatre and is very happy to be involved in the production of WEST SIDE STORY! She has previously worked with Artisan Center Theater during LES MISERABLES. She has had roles outside of Artisan as Chef Louis in THE LITTLE MERMAID and Sponge in JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH JR. She is honored to once again be working with Artisan Center Theater, and she hopes you enjoy the show!
Samantha BajoneroSamantha Bajonero (Consuela) has been acting since she was 3, when she starred as Molly in her first musical, ANNIE. Recent credits include: THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES, TEMPEST, PHANTOM, BUDDY, MACHINAL, and MY FAIR LADY. Bajonero is devoted to acting, singing, and dancing, and would like to one day be on Broadway. Samantha would like to thank her parents, directors, and instructors for teaching her more than just the technique.
Cameron BarkleyCameron Barkley (Action) has been with Artisan for about four and a half years, performing on all 3 stages. He would like to thank Miss Natalie and all the other directors he has worked with who have challenged him through the years. He would like to thank his fellow actors for sharing their talents with him. This will be Cameron’s last show for a while, as he will be attending UNT this fall, majoring in International Relations and Linguistics.
Andrew CastleAndrew Castle (Indio) is thrilled to be in his second main stage performance at Artisan! This camp has been such a great experience for him. He would like to thank everyone for all the love and support he’s gotten on his journey in musical theater! Ciara CiminoCiara Cimino (Anita) is thrilled to be performing again on the Artisan stage. You may have seen her as Lorraine in ALL SHOOK UP, Arista in THE LITTLE MERMAID, or performing in TUMBLEWEED on the Second Stage. Tanner CockrumTanner Cockrum (Tony/Mouthpiece) is excited to perform in this classic musical! Favorite past shows include LES MISERABLES (Marius), THE MUSIC MAN, JR (Harold Hill), CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, JR (Willy Wonka), SEUSSICAL, JR (Horton), and SHREK, JR (Donkey). Tanner will be a 9th-grade theater student at Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy. Thanks to all his family, friends, and teachers for always coming to support him in all his shows!
Josh CrowJosh Crow (Pepe) is glad to be doing his 13th show at Artisan after a year-long break at college. Previous performances include Electra in STARLIGHT, Buddy the Elf (understudy) in ELF THE MUSICAL JR, and Wickersham in SEUSSICAL. Josh is studying photojournalism, with a minor in drama and hopes to continue acting. WEST SIDE STORY has been a great learning experience thanks to the direction of Cody Walker, Natalie Burkhart and Richard Gwozdz. Josh is excited to learn more in future productions.
Piper DanielPiper Daniel (Francisca/Pauline) is overjoyed to be part of the wonderful WEST SIDE STORY cast! You may have recently seen her grace the Children's Theater stage in PETER PAN as the sassy (and sparkly) fairy, Tinkerbell. She would like to thank Natalie and Cody for their amazing direction and choreography, her fabulous dance partners Alessandro and Mason, her glorious double/partner-in-crime Michelle, and God for the amazing talent He gave her. Michelle DulinMichelle Dulin (Francisca/Pauline) is an accomplished dancer in her 13th year of training. Dance credits include Swanhilda in COPPELIA and Tinkerbell in PETER PAN with Youth Ballet of Texas. Artisan credits include Silly Girl/Napkin in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, Andrina in THE LITTLE MERMAID, Turning Woman in LES MISERABLES, and Belladova in PHANTOM. Michelle plans to study Musical Theatre in college. She would like to thank Margaret Wilkerson for her vocal instruction and her parents for their love and support.
Parker GerdesParker Gerdes (Anybodys/Ensemble) is ecstatic about participating in this production of WEST SIDE STORY! She has been involved in theatre for 8 years. Some favorite roles include Gertrude McFuzz in SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL, Madame Thenardier in LES MISERABLES and Ariel in THE LITTLE MERMAID. She thanks her director and choreographer for their engagement in the show, and the heart for teaching what they love. Parker has enjoyed spending more time with her friends and getting to explore her tomboy-like character.
Dawson GrahamDawson Graham (Bernardo) is enrolled at Texas State University, studying Dance and Theatre. Past roles include: Blue in PINKIE AND BLUE and Greaseball in STARLIGHT EXPRESS. Dawson received the Male Chita Rivera Dance Award in 2018 for his role in THE PIRATE QUEEN. Sadie LeyvaSadie Grace Leyva (Velma) is excited to be in another Artisan production. Sadie is going into her senior year as Colonel of her drill team, the Chisholm Trail Charmers. Past roles include: Eponine in LES MISERABLES, Fancy Nancy in FANCY NANCY, Scout in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, and many others. Sadie Grace would like to thank her super rad homies and her insane, but magnificent family. How did the banana get a girlfriend? She found him very A-peeling.
David MaganaDavid Magaña (Schrank) is way too old to go to camp, but proud to perform with the talented cast of WEST SIDE STORY. Previous appearances at Artisan include ANNIE (President Roosevelt), THE PIRATE QUEEN (Chieftain O’Flaherty), THE MIRACLE WORKER (Anagnos), THE SECRET GARDEN (Ben Weatherstaff) and TOM SAWYER (Injun Joe). David treasures every opportunity to perform with one of his children, and this marks the fourth time he has appeared with his daughter, Paloma.
Paloma MaganaPaloma Magaña (Rosalia/Ensemble) has treasured roles including Jane in MARY POPPINS, Mary Lennox in THE SECRET GARDEN, Annie in ANNIE WARBUCKS, and Helen Keller in THE MIRACLE WORKER, earning her the 2016 Artisan Award for Best Actress in a Play. Artisan Children’s Theater performances include ANNIE JR. (Annie), SHREK THE MUSICAL (Young Fiona), and THE LITTLE MERMAID (Flounder). She participates in Spanish Immersion, choir and band at Harwood JHS, where she plays bassoon.
Rachel MedinaRachel Medina (Graziella/Ensemble) is excited to appear in her third Main Stage production at Artisan. She is active in her school theatre program and has made appearances as Lucy Van Pelt in A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS, Jetsam in THE LITTLE MERMAID, and Doris Macafee in BYE BYE BIRDIE. She would like to thank her mother for being her personal cab service these past months, and her dad for supporting her crazy ideas and dreams no matter what.
Sophie MingsSophie Mings (Maria/Ensemble) is thrilled to be in WEST SIDE STORY! You may remember her as Ariel in THE LITTLE MERMAID, Cosette in LES MISERABLES, or Pearl in STARLIGHT EXPRESS. Sophie is pursuing her passion for Musical Theatre at The University of Central Oklahoma. Sophie thanks her supportive family, her incredible voice teacher, Noël Clark, and her favorite director, Natalie Burkhart. Two fish are in a tank. One says to the other, “Do you know how to drive this thing?”
Brendon RamseyBrendon Ramsey (Krupke) is thrilled to be returning to Artisan’s stage in this production. Brendon is currently on his second year at Artisan Center Theater, having performed in MY FAIR LADY, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and PHANTOM. He would like to extend his gratitude to his wonderful parents for always supporting his aspirations as an actor, and most importantly, his younger brother, Derian, without whom he would probably never memorize his lines. He couldn’t ask for a better support system.
Megan RobertsMegan Roberts (Teresita/Ensemble) is excited to do her 8th performance at Artisan Center Theater. She is very excited to be a part of WEST SIDE STORY. One of Megan’s favorite roles was Mrs. Darbus in HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL JR. Megan plans to go into performance as a career and can’t wait for the show. Chris SeilChris Seil (Doc) is honored to be performing with the amazingly talented young adults in WEST SIDE STORY. He has appeared in over 40 productions, including THE WEAVING as Father Ten Boom and many roles at Artisan. Natalie BurkhartNatalie Burkhart (Directoris absolutely thrilled to be returning to Artisan’s Main Stage after recently directing SISTER ACT and SCROOGE THE MUSICAL. She has been producing Artisan Children’s Theater productions since 2011, directing over fifty shows including SHREK THE MUSICAL, INTO THE WOODS, ANNIE, DISNEY’S THE LITTLE MERMAID, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH, SEUSSICAL and RODGERS AND HAMMERSTEIN’S CINDERELLA. Acting credits include CITY OF ANGELS and LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at Our Productions Theatre Co.,THE TEMPEST at Dallas Shakespeare Festival and Teatro Dallas’ THE PRETENTIOUS MAIDENS. She has also starred in WEST SIDE STORY, SWING and TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD here at Artisan, and spent two years touring the United States as Betty Blake in ALL HANDS ON DECK after playing the role on Artisan’s stage. Natalie is the proud mother of two beautiful (and very active) toddlers, and would like to thank her husband for his unwavering love, support and encouragement.
Cody WalkerCody Walker (Camp Director/Choreographer) is honored to choreograph this amazing piece of our musical theatre heritage. As a director and choreographer, Cody has always admired the work of Jerome Robbins and always tries to emulate the same characteristics of storytelling through movement and dance. Cody serves as Artisan’s Associate Artistic Director as well as Director of Education, and with WEST SIDE STORY, in addition to choreographer, also served as the Camp Director working towards making the camp truly an intensive experience for the students. Prior to Artisan, Cody was the Director of the Musical Theatre Program at WSU. For the past three summers he has been the resident Director and Choreographer for the Main Stage Summer Musical Theatre Intensive Production Camp and Institute at Interlochen Center for the Arts. Before Interlochen, Cody was the resident choreographer and director at McLeod Summer Playhouse. Recent credits as director and choreographer: WE FOXES (World Student Premiere), EVITA, A FUNNY THING…FORUM, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, LEGALLY BLONDE, BIG RIVER, GREASE, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL. Richard GwozdzH. Richard Gwozdz (Music Director) substituted for his brother for one month playing Keyboard 2 in the National Tour of WEST SIDE STORY. He supported the live instruments 1 Violin, 1 Viola, 1 Cello, 1 Trumpet, 1 Trombone and sounds for Spanish Guitar, Oboe and Mariachi Bass. It was fun making those individual instruments sound like many instruments; the Strings and the Brass. It was fun playing the Spanish Guitar sound in “Cool” and the Mariachi Bass in “America.” Enjoy!
