Meet your favorite Disney Princess or Superhero! Spend quality time hanging out with your favorite famous characters. Receive the royal treatment as they share their personal story, sing to you, and play games with you! Bring the magic into the studio while mom gets exercise in her adult dance class, all at the same time!

 

Get some exercise while you wait! Drop off your toddler while you take an adult dance class at the same time!

ACTING FOR TEENS

This class covers the theory and practice of the actor's craft and dramatic arts techniques. This course is designed to assist the pre-professional in improvisational exercises (verbal and nonverbal), in sensory awareness, observation, concentration, listening, and response skills. This will assist with preparing individual and group dramatic presentation techniques for the pre-professional.

The study of scenes and monologues as they work into songs from different musicals. Students will work on acting with a scene partner (or by themselves in monologue form) and performing a solo or duet when applicable. This class is designed for those wanting to play roles in musical theatre.

Musical Theatre Performance is a performance course that could also be called acting through song. In this class, we synthesize vocal technique and acting and movement/gesture to create an overall performance of a song as used in an audition or performance setting.

Always wanted to take a dance class again? Tired of the same boring exercise routines and exhausting, boring workout classes? Come have fun dancing while getting your exercise at the same time! Learn fun combinations to your favorite showtunes and pop/rock songs. Review your technique and burn some calories, while your children have a magical experience at the same time! Drop your kids off and enroll them in our Character Storytime class!

They will also study rhythmic footwork to contemporary music. Students will learn the fundamentals used in America's rhythmic folk dances, including tap dancing. We will work to create clean sounds and fantastic rhythms with fun movement, all to great music.

NEWSIES TURNS & TECH

Come drill your technique with this course focused on studying the techniques used in ballet and jazz. Students will become familiar with the techniques and terminology, as well as develop more strength and flexibility. Through this study, students will have a base of technique that is directly applicable to all dance genres, particularly the style and choreography that will be utilized in our production of NEWSIES. *Enrollment in this class does not guarantee casting in our main stage production.

Production Classes


 

Ever want to be in a musical production, but can't commit to rehearsals every night for weeks or even months? Ever want to try being in a show, but wanted to do a lighter version of a musical? This is the class for you! Meet once per week to take part and rehearse a cut version (mini-musical) and perform your production at the end of the semester on our stage!

 

 

PROJECT BROADWAY FOR TEENS – BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

An arrogant prince is cursed to live as a terrifying beast until he finds true love. The spirited, headstrong village girl, Belle, enters the Beast's castle after he imprisons her father, Maurice. With the help of his enchanted servants, Belle begins to draw the cold-hearted Beast out of his isolation.

As the result of the curse of a once-beautiful witch, a baker and his wife are childless. Three days before the rise of a blue moon, they venture into the forest to find the ingredients that will reverse the spell and restore the witch's beauty; a milk-white cow, hair as yellow as corn, a blood-red cape, and a slipper of gold. During their journey, they meet Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Jack, each one on a quest to fulfill a wish.

When street rat, Aladdin, frees a genie from a lamp, he finds his wishes granted. However, he soon finds that the evil Jafar has other plans for the lamp—and for Princess Jasmine. But can Aladdin save Princess Jasmine and his love for her after she sees that he isn't quite what he appears to be?

In the depths of the 1930's, Annie is a fiery young orphan girl who must live in a miserable orphanage, run by the tyrannical Miss Hannigan. Her seemingly hopeless situation changes dramatically when she is selected to spend a short time at the residence of the wealthy munitions industrialist, Oliver Warbucks.

Primary emphasis in this class is placed on vocal performance—singing solo pieces in front of your peers. Learn the fundamentals of singing as a group. Each student will be coached in front of the class to better release tension and find proper placement applying the techniques discovered and taught in class. Group Vocal Technique is a technique-focused course, which can be taken on its own, but is designed to serve well as an adjunct to the Musical Theatre Performance class.

Company


 

Artisan Academy is very excited to announce our elite companies. These companies will be audition only, and will be the face of Artisan Center Theater and The Artisan Academy within the community, performing year-round. Each company will be a performing based company applying the skills they learn through their academy training. In addition to performing locally throughout the year, they will prepare for two larger semester-end productions; a holiday production in December and a spring production in June. The material within the companies will be Broadway-style revues, showcasing a variety of selections from different musicals and the Great America Songbook.

This will be our elite high school age touring group, where we synthesize our skills in singing, dancing, and acting with exciting numbers from popular musicals! The Artisan Ambassadors company will tour the nation and the world, serving as ambassadors for Texas and America, as they alternate national and international tours.
