Alvaro Aguilar (Ritchie Valens) has been seen in previous productions, such as SEUSSICAL (Casa Manana), CAROUSEL (Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts), and SHREK THE MUSICAL (Kids Who Care). His favorite role was Star Keeper in CAROUSEL. Outside of theatre, Alvaro enjoys hip hop, poetry, and soccer, and competes in poetry contests. He would like to thank his parents for encouraging him and being his number one fans. He loves them a lot!

Sonia Alcala (Maria Elena’s Aunt) is returning for her 8th Artisan production. Her previous Artisan productions include SCROOGE, THE MUSIC MAN, ALL SHOOK UP, SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS, THE FORGOTTEN CAROLS, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, and THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST. She has also performed in THE PROMISE at Glen Rose, TX for three seasons. Sonia is a cancer survivor and gives honor and praise to God for each new day!

Samantha Bajonero (Maria Elena Santiago) has been acting since she was 3 when she started in her first musical, ANNIE, as Molly. Recent credits include: MACHINAL, MY FAIR LADY, SCROOGE, MIRACLE WORKER, and UBU. Bajonero is devoted to acting, singing, and dancing, and would like to one day be on Broadway. Samantha would like to thank her parents, directors, and instructors for teaching her more than just the technique.

Twana Barber aka Jazzmine (Apollo Emcee) is originally from Saint Louis, MO, but recently relocated to Dallas from Washington D.C. She is thrilled to make her Artisan debut by playing the Apollo Emcee. She has been writing, singing and performing musicals and stage plays for over twenty years. Some of her favorite shows include BYE BYE BIRDIE, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, DREAMGIRLS, CAROLINE OR CHANGE, and MONEY CAN’T BUY YOU LOVE. She is active in her church, loves traveling, cooking, sports, and writing. Her ability is blessed by God, cultivated by her teachers, praised by her parents, scrutinized by her critics, explored by her peers, and now—shared with all of you!

Charles I. BryantM/F/SAT-3PM


Charles I. Bryant (Apollo Performer) is overjoyed to be a part of BUDDY HOLLY again. This marks his fifteenth year of doing community theater, all in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This is his sixth show at Artisan; the last being THE FREEDOM FACTOR. His most recent show was THE WIZARD OF OZ at Grand Prairie Theater. He would like to thank the patrons, the volunteers, the Artisan staff, and most of all, God, who makes all this possible.

Tevin Cates (Tommy Allsup) is excited to return for his 28th Main Stage production at Artisan, after working for two years at Walt Disney World in Entertainment. Some of Tevin's favorite roles on Artisan’s Main Stage have  been Caleb in SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS, Andy Lee in 42ND STREET, and Mouthpiece in WEST SIDE STORY. Big hug to his granddad and the rest of his family—and thanks to Bill Brooks for giving him this fun opportunity!

Jordan DeLaO (Maria Elena Santiago) is thrilled to be a part of BUDDY HOLLY! She previously had the role of Shirley/Mary Lou Sokoloff when Artisan first performed the show 3 years ago! She feels honored to play Maria Elena this time around! She credits her love for musical theatre back to her first show ever; 1940's RADIO HOUR at Sul Ross State University! She would like to thank God, first and foremost for the opportunities to perform, and for the love and support from her husband, Aaron DeLaO and family. He is always encouraging her to pursue her dreams and never give up. Smooth sailing makes for no growth nor strength, but hitting strong winds will cause you to overcome and be stronger with every testing time.

Connie George (Maria Elena's Aunt) was last seen in THE PIRATE QUEEN. She began the 2017 Artisan Season as Sister Robert Anne in NUNSENSE. She was also in ALL SHOOK UP, in which she played Sylvia. Connie thanks her four amazing girls and super supportive husband for allowing her to pursue her love for theater. She is so happy to have a place like Artisan, where she can share the talents that the Lord has blessed her with. He is the one who really deserves all the praise.

Thomas GoetzT/TH/SAT-7:30PM


Thomas Goetz (Buddy Holly) is an aspiring musician, plays for the popular Fort Worth local band, SOCKS, and is a part of Paschal High School's varsity jazz band. Despite his busy schedule with music, he is thrilled to have the chance to play the part of Buddy Holly, and couldn't pass up the opportunity by any means. He will always have a special place in his heart for Artisan Theater and all his fellow actors and colleagues.



Robert Hamilton (Norman Petty) is excited to join his sixth show with Artisan. Originally a California native, he is now exploring all that Texas has to offer. Acting since high school, Robert has enjoyed performances in ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, INHERIT THE WIND, IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE, and THE ELEPHANT MAN. He would like to thank his family and church for their support. When not on stage, Robert can be seen either at Taco Bell or working at Clayton Youth Enrichment Services.

Katy Hill (Vi Petty) is thrilled to be returning to BUDDY and reprising the same role. She has been seen in several productions in North Texas, with her favorite roles being Mrs. Pearce in MY FAIR LADY (Artisan), Sandra in ALL SHOOK UP (Artisan), and Sandra in ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST (Theatre of North Texas). She would like to thank her family and friends for their support, and her cats for forgiving her for being gone to rehearsals and performances so much.

Meg Jakubik (Vi Petty) is performing in her seventh production at Artisan Center Theater. Past favorite productions include THE HIDING PLACE, WHITE CHRISTMAS, and SCROOGE THE MUSICAL. She would like to thank her family for their support and patience, especially as she learned the piano required for this role.

Dan Johnston (Decca Producer) is always pleased to be working with Artisan. Dan has been seen multiple times at Artisan and various area venues in productions including BAREFOOT IN THE PARK,  THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL, SCROOGE THE MUSICAL, THE MUSIC MAN, BUDDY – THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY,  THE HIDING PLACE, THE CIVIL WAR, BIG RIVER, SOUTH PACIFIC, SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS, IN DEFENSE OF BETTER DAYS, INHERIT THE WIND, and THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Dan serves on the boards of Artisan Center Theater, Live Theatre League of Tarrant County, and DVA Productions. He thanks his wife, Delta, for her support, Bill, for his confidence in him, and the entire Artisan family, for their dedication to bring family-friendly theater to Tarrant County.



Sheridan Keyton (Apollo Performer) made his Artisan debut last summer as Poppa in STARLIGHT EXPRESS. He has been performing since he was three, singing in the church choir with his mother, Sheran Keyton. He has worked with Casa Manana, Hip Pocket, DVA Productions, Contemporary Theater of Dallas, and Six Flags of Texas. Other roles include King in TEMPEST, Flotsam in THE LITTLE MERMAID, Earthworm in JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH, Chad Danforth in HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, Marshmallow the Snow Monster in UNFROZEN, Scarecrow in THE WIZ, and Judah in JOSEPH … DREAMCOAT. He thanks his family and friends and those around him who have supported him and gave him the confidence to get onstage.

Jeremiah Massie (Buddy Holly) is very excited to be in BUDDY – THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY. This is his first lead role, and he is very happy to have this chance. He has been in other Artisan shows; ALL SHOOK UP and the previous run of THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY. He would like to thank Bill Brooks for asking him to be a part of this show, and his friends and family for supporting him.

Lindsey McCallum (Shirley/Mary Lou Sokoloff) is so excited to be in BUDDY HOLLY. You may have seen her in THE PIRATE QUEEN (Dancer), THE LITTLE MERMAID (Ursula), BYE BYE BIRDIE (Ursula), and many many more! She would like to thank Bill Brooks and DeeAnn Blair for giving her this opportunity and her family and friends for their endless support.



Deedle Muncrief (Decca Producer) is the best singer/actor that Broadway's never seen. Deedle has starred at Artisan in the 2014 production of BUDDY HOLLY and in ALL SHOOK UP. He also has been a featured performer in THE TUMBLEWEED ROUNDUP series on Artisan's Second Stage. Deedle is pleased to be performing with his son, Hunter (as Jerry), for the first time.



Hunter Muncrief (Jerry Allison) drums to the beat of a different marcher. Hunter is making his Artisan debut as Cricket drummer, Jerry Allison. Hunter is a sophomore at Richland High School, where he plays in the band. Hunter is happy to be sharing the stage with his dad, Deedle Muncrief.

Billy Myers (The Big Bopper) is delighted to be playing The Big Bopper in THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY. Such a fun character; larger than life, much like Billy himself. He dedicates his performance to Bill Brooks, who wanted him to play it the first time Artisan did the show. This one is for you, Bill.



Daniel Orges (Murray Deutch/Clear Lake Emcee/Apollo DJ Reporter) had not intended on acting again anytime soon, but when a good part is needing to be filled, he finds it hard to say no. He is consistently placed in these types of roles, and they continue to be fun. Previous roles (all at the Artisan) include: Ellerd Simms in THE FOREIGNER, Lem in THE MAN WITH THE POINTED TOES, Lemar Benfield in WALKING ACROSS EGYPT, Lewis in THE FREEDOM FACTOR, Reverend Oglethorpe in SANDERS FAMILY CHRISTMAS, and Officer Brophy in ARSENIC AND OLD LACE. Thank you to Bill Brooks for putting together a great show, Artisan for being the most family-friendly theater around, and thanks to God for the talents, and opportunities to use them.

Brendon Ramsey (Asst. Decca Producer/Radio Engineer) continues to gain experience on stage thanks to the folks at the Artisan. Earlier this year, Brendon sang and danced in the musical, MY FAIR LADY, here at Artisan. He is excited to work on this fantastic show, and would like to thank his family for helping him make this happen. He would like to give special thanks to his brother, Derian, for always believing in him and pushing him to do his best.

Brandon Scheiber (Joe B. Mauldin) is very excited to be playing the role of Joe B. Mauldin, the bass player for Buddy Holly, in Artisan’s production of BUDDY – THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY. Although a newcomer to the Artisan stage, Brandon has performed numerous roles for both radio and television commercials, along with several roles for the anime dubbing company, FUNimation. Brandon is a classically-trained musician and has been playing electric and upright bass for 18 years.



Mark Scott (Hipockets Duncan) The 2014 version of BUDDY was Mark's first show at Artisan. Since then, he has been very busy here. He has appeared in SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS, TARZAN, THE MUSIC MAN, BIG FISH, and all the music revues on Artisan's Second Stage (including the TUMBLEWEED ROUNDUP series). Being single-cast, Mark misses his family and looks forward to a nice reunion with his wife and cats when the run is over.

Heather Sturdevant (Shirley/Mary Lou Sokoloff) is over the moon to be a part of BUDDY – THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY. You may have seen her in other Artisan productions such as THE PIRATE QUEEN (Queen Elizabeth), STATE FAIR (Emily Arden), ARSENIC AND OLD LACE (Elaine Harper), THE SECRET GARDEN (Rose Lennox), ALL SHOOK UP (Sandra/Ensemble), and PHILADELPHIA STORY (Tracy Lord). Other credits include SKIN OF OUR TEETH (Dinosaur/Muse/Ivy) at Stage West, THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD (Ensemble) at Denton Community Theatre, SEARCH AND DESTROY (Marie) for L.I.P. Service, and INTO THE WOODS (Florinda) at Music Theatre of Denton. “Never a dull moment!” She would also like to thank Bill Brooks for letting her reprise her original role she did for this show three years ago, and her dad, for being both weird and awesome at the same time.

Genine Ware (Apollo Performer), a native Kansan, is absolutely thrilled to make her return to the Artisan stage. Her all-time favorite role was playing Sylvia in ALL SHOOK UP. Some of her favorite roles have been playing Miss Celie in THE COLOR PURPLE MUSICAL, Deena Jones in DREAMGIRLS, and Motormouth in HAIRSPRAY. Other stage credits include THE WIZ, FOOTLOOSE, and BEST LITTLE...IN TEXAS.

Clint WhiteM/F/SAT-3PM


Clint White (The Big Bopper) has been performing professionally for the past 30 years. He is a past on-air personality for 96.3 KSCS and has voiced numerous commercials, audio books, and corporate intros for seminars. He was also the host for the television show ‘Texas Steppin’ Out.’ He is a gifted vocalist who has done brilliant impersonations of Jerry Lee Lewis, Willie Nelson, Elvis Presley, Bill Clinton, and The Big Bopper during his tenure as Master of Ceremonies at the GRAPEVINE OPRY. Most recently, he was a regular cast member in the highly acclaimed MAIN STREET LIVE variety show as a singer, comedian and emcee. Clint played The Big Bopper in the last run of BUDDY – THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY, and is thrilled to reprise that role in this production. He would like to thank Bill Brooks for the opportunity to relive all the fun and excitement that this show brings!

Bill BrooksDr. Bill Brooks (Directordirected BUDDY for Artisan in 2014 and joyfully returns to direct it again. He has been serving as Artisan’s Board President for the last three years. He is a season performer who made his Artisan debut in 2013 in THE HIDING PLACE. In 1989, he originated the role of Simon Peter in THE PROMISE at Glen Rose. In 1995, The Brooks Brothers opened THE PROMISE in Branson, MO, where it played for seven years. Bill is a recording artist who released a CD of Christian Country Music a few years ago. For years he was associated with The Johnny High Show where he helped several new artists go on to careers in Country Music. At Artisan, he started THE TUMBLEWEED ROUNDUP in 2016. Last December, he played Scrooge in SCROOGE THE MUSICAL. It was one of his bucket list roles.
Richard GwozdzH. Richard Gwozdz (Music Director) In the 8th/9th grade, played in rock band, Tejano/Rock Band, in 1972. Management rip-off traded Hammond organ, electric piano, and Moog synthesizer for a sound system and turntables and became a DJ. DJ’d at Forum Ice Rink/Tandy Center Ice Rink; Played the Organ/CD’s at Will Rogers Coliseum/Fort Worth Convention Center for the Fort Worth Texans’ hockey games. Played heavy metal and a hockey game broke out. Enjoy the influential BUDDY HOLLY STORY!
