ARTIE’S PLAYHOUSE at Artisan Center Theater is our interactive children’s theater done by kids for kids. Our annual season of children’s shows includes nine interactive productions in which the audience, guided by the ARTIE’S PLAYHOUSE mascot “Artie the Monkey,” get to play a vital part in each story. ARTIE’S PLAYHOUSE shows are “high-energy silliness” that holds kids’ attention and teach valuable life lessons while exposing them to live theater in a fun-filled way. From the moment you enter the lobby until the time you leave, after you meet the entire cast that is, you and your child are guaranteed to have a blast! ARTIE’S PLAYHOUSE tickets are priced at $5.00 for everyone providing a wonderful and inexpensive way to enjoy some time with your family.
At ARTIE’S PLAYHOUSE we welcome you to become a member of Artie’s Club. This kid based season ticket program allows for an affordable membership giving your child a ticket for each one of our fun-filled productions, an official Artie’s Club Member baseball cap (and free popcorn when they wear it to a show), Artie’s Club coloring book featuring original artwork, a special sticker poster with stickers from each show and a prime seat for interactive fun! Parents are of course invited for the fun, but required to be a silly as all the kids. Here at the Artisan Center Theater we have a full range of performing arts classes including dance, acting and musical theater production as well as technical theater and props. We encourage all of our students to participate in ARTIE’S PLAYHOUSE and all of our ARTIE’S PLAYHOUSE performers to participate in our Education program.
ARTIE’S PLAYHOUSE recognizes our unique ability to inspire the youth in our community and would like to invite your Group to take part! Each production at ARTIE’S PLAYHOUSE provides a perfect opportunity for learning in a kid-friendly environment. Plus, Artie is now introducing Study Guides for parents and teachers to assist in educational discussions! The popularity of ARTIE’S PLAYHOUSE is growing steadily each year. It is very unique in that children are performing for live audience’s made up of their energetic and receptive peers. Not only does this give the youth in our community opportunities to grow as actors, directors, designers and technicians from a very early age, but more importantly offers inspiration to our youngest patrons to take part in new theatrical experiences. We happily invite any and all performers of various talent levels to come and be a part of ARTIE’S PLAYHOUSE by auditioning to be in one of our productions. We have open auditions for kids ages 8 and older. All auditions dates and times are listed on our website and are scheduled throughout the year for the different productions. Each of the ARTIE’S PLAYHOUSE productions are performed in our 150 seat theater-in-the-round. The theater in the round concept provides an intimate atmosphere that allows children and adults to view each one of our shows up close and personal. Exits are nearby for each little patron who may be a bit squirmy or need to use our bathroom facilities.
The Artisan Theater is located in the old historic Belaire Plaza at 420 East Pipeline Road. The daytime box office is located at 418 East Pipeline Road. Performances are at 4:30 on Fridays and 10:00 on Saturdays with added shows during our summer months.
